Why an Aston Martin Vantage?
During late summer of 2024, I purchased a 2019 Aston Martin Vantage from Aston Martin Dealership in Sevenoaks. When this shape of Vantage was launched in 2018, it received a mixed reception at first from a number of car critics, however, each review complimented the cars looks, handling and set up. I grew very fond of this model of the Vantage - the new generation of such a successful model for the brand.
In 2024, I was lucky enough to be in a financial position to purchase this model of Vantage on the second hand market and purchased this vehicle with only 7389 miles on the clock. It was effectively a new car, especially to me!
The month after I purchased the vehicle, I was lucky enough to secure a space on Sam & Tony’s Behind the Glass podcast European Road Trip, where we ended on top of the Grossglockner, High Alpine Road in Austria, but not before we drove through numerous countries and experienced visits to the Autobahn, the Motor Museum in Stuttgart, the Porsche Museum also in Stuttgart and more besides. The trip enabled me to get very well acquainted with the car, which was helped at pace, due to the appalling weather we experienced for 90% of the trip!
So within a few weeks I had doubled the mileage of this car and began to love it even more!
Under my ownership, the car is due it’s first service in February 2025, so I’ll see how things go, but from my mechanically naïve perspective, the car is sound, it drives very well, its a joy to drive, which is largely due to that amazing AMG engineered with an Aston Martin re-tune, V8 engine - which is probably one of, if not, the best V8 engines ever made. A large part of the enjoyment I get from driving, is the engine - the noise, and the noise of this V8 means I rarely sit and listen to the music in car stereo system! Driving and listening to the V8 tones as the car powers up Austrian mountains last September, was priceless, a memory I will never forget.
Incidentally, I was invited to test drive the new 2024 Aston Martin Vantage in late 2024, by Aston Martin, Leeds - and although I enjoyed every minute and was impressed with how the new designs had evolved, which included the interior, I couldn’t help but wonder, as I turned off all the mandatory warnings and driver aides, whether we had reached the pinnacle period for the combustion engine? What do you think? So although the new 2024 Vantage was nice, it didn’t sound as good as my 2019 Vantage, I don’t have to turn off all the driver aides in my Vantage and the horsepower increase in the latest model - I’m not sure I need it!
I still have a lot to learn and experience in my trusted 2019 Vantage - which I am looking forward to expand my experiences in 2025. So join me on the many adventures by subscribing to the Fuel the Passion YouTube channel, so you don’t miss an episode. Thank you.
